Buying Tips
Where
to start you ask? First you'll need to decide if you're going to play pump or
semi. Most players will try to play with the same type of guns as their friends.
In other words, if everyone you're going to play with is shooting a semi-auto,
you may be over-matched using a pump.
When you've decided between a pump or a semi-auto, you'll want to figure out which paintgun to buy. There are many, many to choose from. You'll also need to answer these questions before you can begin to think about which paintgun to buy. What is your price range? How often will you play? Have you tried several different guns?, etc.
Once you've figured how
much in debt you're willing to go, look at everything in that price range. Also
talk to other players, ask your local store or field owner, and read as much as
you can about the products you're considering. Some good reading sources are
other paintball magazines and paintball resource web pages such as
www.warpig.com and www.pcri.net. Treat buying a paintball gun as if
you
were buying a new stereo, car, etc. Do the research. You'll be happy you did. If
you are buying a pump-marker, we recommend getting one that is velocity
adjustable without having to change springs.
If you are buying a semi, there are many things to look for. Is the gun easy to maintain? Is it upgradeable? Is it heavy? Is it made by a company that's been in the industry for weeks or for years? What's the warranty look like?
